### What I Built

I designed and built a full website for a dental clinic, focused on welcoming new patients, explaining what to expect, showcasing services in detail, and making it easy (and less intimidating) to book an appointment.

### Why I Built It

Clinic and healthcare sites are a different design challenge than typical product or marketing work. The goal isn't visual flash, it's trust. I used this project to practice designing for tone, clarity, and reassurance instead of novelty.

### What Sparked the Project

I kept noticing how many local clinic sites feel like an afterthought: outdated, cluttered, and hard to navigate, especially when you're already anxious about seeing a dentist. I wanted to reimagine that experience from the patient's perspective.

### How I Approached It

#### 1. Designing for Trust First

Every layout and content decision was filtered through a single question:

> _Would this help a nervous first-time visitor feel more at ease?_

That principle shaped:

- The tone of the copy, calm, direct, and reassuring.
- The pacing of information, no walls of text, no jargon.
- How services were presented, clear, structured, and non-overwhelming.

#### 2. Mapping the Patient Journey

I structured the site around the real path someone takes when choosing a clinic:

1. **Homepage** – First impression, quick reassurance, and clear next steps.
1. **New Patient Flow** – What to expect, how to prepare, and how booking works.
1. **Service Pages** – Individual treatments explained in plain language.

Each page is designed to answer the next question before the visitor has to ask it.

#### 3. Treating Content as Core Design

Instead of relying on animations or visual tricks, I treated copy and structure as primary design tools:

- Defined what each page needed to say.
- Ordered information from most reassuring to most detailed.
- Used headings, subcopy, and CTAs to guide visitors without pressure.

### What Makes It Different

#### Built Around the Visitor’s Mindset

The structure is optimized for someone who might be nervous about booking:

- Reduced friction at every step.
- Clear expectations about the visit.
- Friendly, non-clinical language that still feels professional.

#### Clear Information Architecture

Services, the new-patient process, and contact details are organized so visitors can:

- Find what they need in a couple of clicks.
- Avoid digging through deep menus.
- Always see a clear path to either learn more or book.

#### A Different Design Muscle

This project was an exercise in designing for calm and clarity instead of impact:

- Prioritizing readability over visual spectacle.
- Letting structure and tone do the heavy lifting.
- Building a skill set that transfers directly to any client-facing work where trust matters.

### Key Takeaway

Building the Rivermint Dental site reinforced that not every project needs to impress with complexity. The best designs often get out of the way and quietly do their job. Designing for trust forced me to slow down, think from the visitor’s seat first, and let clarity lead the work.
